The Loch Raven Skeet & Trap Center is proud to offer National Skeet Shooting Association (NSSA) sanctioned events. Scores shot at these events are recorded as registered targets. All registered shoots offered by LRSTC provide Juniors and Sub-Juniors the opportunity to shoot at significantly reduced rates. Our fifth and final event of the 2008 year is the annual Jim Shumway Open on September 19-21, 2008. This is a 4-Gun Shoot for 12, 20 and 28 Gauge and .410 Caliber as well as Doubles on Friday afternoon. The Jim Shumway Open on Sept. 19-21, 2008 has an entree fee of $42.00 per gun. Shoot any or all gauges. The Doubles event will start at 1pm on Friday afternoon, 9/21. The first rotation on Saturday and Sunday starts at 9:30 AM. The Jim Shumway Open is a memorial shoot. It's named after a long standing member of LRSTC who died way too soon. At the time of his death in the mid 1990's Jim was only 38 years old. He had already become a force in Maryland skeet shooting circles and served as the Skeet Chairman of the Maryland Skeet Shooting Association (MSSA). It was in his final year that he garnered a 398 out of 400 for himself in a registered shoot. Smokin' Jim Shumway worked hard at both his game and the Center that he called his second home. As Field Captain he just assumed if nobody else volunteered for a task then he needed to go on and do it himself. His last role at LRSTC was to serve as our Vice-President.
